Broken Poem

Regret

The deep eyes that become a gateway showing her,

 Pure soul,

Gentle smile that provided respite from your worries; her,

Laughter around that squealed around you in delight not afraid to show her true self,

That beautiful curly hair she rushes to straighten and her personality that,

Cures you- yet you remain silent,

you never talked to her- never confessed to her but she will,

not to you because you were too "shy" too "scared" of rejection,

and waiting for a better time but remember this- the grave,

is filled with people thinking they had one more day so just,

do it because tomorrow is not promised and the pain of regret,

is worse than the pain of rejection,

Walking through the thorns will be worth it when it will lead you to a garden of roses

BREAK

the deep eyes
become a gateway—
showing her,

pure soul,

Gentle smile
a moment of rest,
a breath,
her—

Laughter
that squeals around you,
a sound unafraid
to be whole,
(to be seen)

That beautiful, curly hair
she rushes to straighten—
why?
her personality—
why?

Cures you
but you remain silent.

you never talked to her—
never confessed—
but she will.

Not to you.

Because you were too “shy”
too “scared”

Waiting—
waiting for the right time—
but remember this:

the grave is filled with people who thought
they had
one more day.

so just do it.

because tomorrow is not promised.

because the pain of regret
is worse—
so much worse
than the pain of rejection.

Walk through the thorns.

It will be worth it
when they lead you to
a garden
of roses.

Utilized fragmenting, dissonance, and played around with space and visual appearance for my break! I used these technqiues to kind of highlight key points in my poem and make more parts of my poem emotional so the reader can hopefully experience what I'm trying to portray.

We hesitate to confess to someone or even ask something to someone because of our fear of rejection. We know all the good we can gain if the response they give is affirmative but in our heads all the positives do not seem to outweigh the one single negative of rejection.

Some risks in life are worth taking and you must realize which ones you need to take otherwise life will not progress just because you're scared. Good luck!
